Clinical Pilates

Clinical pilates is a movement focused treatment, that targets strength, core stability, flexibility, movement control, and specific movement deficits. It is a specific approach that helps build resilience through purposeful movement. Pilates integrates breath, multi-segmental stabilization/movement, and strength-based exercises. In clinic we use equipment that includes matt, reformer and the tower.

Our initial assessment combines your tried-and-true physio assessment, with a specialized movement-based testing. This type of testing allows us to highlight movement discrepancies that can be often overlooked. Your follow-up appointments will be tailored pilates based exercises that are taught one-on-one. This type of movement is inclusive to everyone, whether you are working on a specific injury, have chronic pain or are looking for general functional fitness, we can work with all activity levels. These treatments may also include traditional manual therapy techniques and movement-based exercises, depending on each person’s needs.

We know that the equipment can be intimidating! This type of equipment is meant to assist and break down movements, as well as adding resistance when able. Working one-on-one with the physiotherapist allows you to become more comfortable with the movement.

Clinical Pilates is only offered at our Red Deer location
